I’m a little annoyed…again!

I got this today from my cousin’s live-in non married something or other.  Not that I’m being judgmental but they are living in sin and have three bastard children.  Okay maybe I am being a little judgmental.  I’m just a little annoyed.  Surely, by now, they’d know that this is NOT the kind of thing I’d like to read.  And surely by now they’d know that I’m not going to just pretend I didn’t get it and delete it as it asks me to.  That’s probably what I should do.  But I think it’s important for the narrow-minded to at least have the opportunity to hear the other side of the argument.

Any suggestions as to how I should respond.  And not responding is not an option.

PS….this is not written by Andy Rooney and he’s said about a million times since this first surfaced that if he knew who wrote it, he would sue them

> Good for him!!!
> Surprised CBS let him get away with this even though he’s right

> [cid:1.946685579@web31004.mail.mud.yahoo.com]

> Right on, Andy Rooney !

> Andy Rooney said on ’60 Minutes’ a few weeks back:

> I don’t think being a minority makes you a victim of anything except numbers. The only things I can think of that are truly discriminatory are things like the United Negro College Fund, Jet Magazine, Black Entertainment Television, and Miss Black America. Try to have things like the United Caucasian College Fund, Cloud Magazine, White Entertainment Television, or Miss White America; and see what happens…Jesse Jackson will be knocking down your door.

> Guns do not make you a killer. I think killing makes you a killer. You can kill someone with a baseball bat or a car, but no one is trying to ban you from driving to the ball game.

> I believe they are called the Boy Scouts for a reason, which is why there are no girls allowed. Girls belong in the Girl Scouts! ARE YOU LISTENING MARTHA BURKE ?

> I think that if you feel homosexuality is wrong, it is not a phobia, it is an opinion.

> I have the right ‘NOT’ to be tolerant of others because they are different, weird, or tick me off..

> When 70% of the people who get arrested are black, in cities where 70% of the population is black, that is not racial profiling; it is the Law of Probability.

> I believe that if you are selling me a milkshake, a pack of cigarettes, a newspaper or a hotel room, you must do it in English! As a matter of fact, if you want to be an American citizen, you should have to speak English!

> My father and grandfather didn’t die in vain so you can leave the countries you were born in to come over and disrespect ours.

> I think the police should have every right to shoot you if you threaten them after they tell you to stop. If you can’t understand the word ‘freeze’ or ‘stop’ in English, see the above lines.

> I don’t think just because you were not born in this country, you are qualified for any special loan programs, government sponsored bank loans or tax breaks, etc., so you can open a hotel, coffee shop, trinket store, or any other business.

> We did not go to the aid of certain foreign countries and risk our lives in wars to defend their freedoms, so that decades later they could come over here and tell us our constitution is a living document; and open to their interpretations.

> I don’t hate the rich I don’t pity the poor

> I know pro wrestling is fake, but so are movies and television.. That doesn’t stop you from watching them.

> I think Bill Gates has every right to keep every penny he made and continue to make more. If it ticks you off, go and invent the next operating system that’s better, and put your name on the building.

> It doesn’t take a whole village to raise a child right, but it does take a parent to stand up to the kid; and smack their little behinds when necessary, and say ‘NO!’

> I think tattoos and piercing are fine if you want them, but please don’t pretend they are a political statement. And, please, stay home until that new lip ring heals. I don’t want to look at your ugly infected mouth as you serve me French fries!

> I am sick of ‘Political Correctness.’ I know a lot of black people, and not a single one of them was born in Africa ; so how can they be ‘African-Americans’? Besides, Africa is a continent. I don’t go around saying I am a European-American because my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather was fromEurope . I am proud to be from America and no where else!

> And if you don’ t like my point of view, tough…

> I was asked to send this on if I agree or delete if I don’t.. It is said that 86% of Americans believe in God.. Therefore I have a very hard time understanding why there is such a problem in having ‘In God We Trust’ on our money and having ‘God’ in the Pledge of Allegiance. Why don’t we just tell the 14% to BE QUIET!!!

> If you agree, pass this on, if not delete.

I also got this one:
> Joe Legal vs. Jose Illegal

> Here is an example of why hiring illegal aliens is not economically productive for the State of California or anywhere else for that matter…

> You have 2 families…”Joe Legal” and “Jose Illegal”.
> Both families have 2 parents, 2 children and live in California.

> “Joe Legal” works in construction, has a Social Security Number,
> and makes $25.00 per hour with payroll taxes deducted….

> “Jose Illegal” also works in construction, has “NO” Social Security Number,

> and gets paid $15.00 cash “under the table”.

> Joe Legal… $25.00 per hour x 40 hours $1,000.00 per week, $52,000 per year.

> Now take 30% away for state federal tax. Joe Legal now has $31,231.00.

> Jose Illegal… $15.00 per hour x 40 hours $600.00 per week, $31,200.00 per year.

> Jose Illegal pays no taxes… Jose Illegal now has $31,200.00.

> Joe Legal pays Medical and Dental Insurance with limited coverage of $1,000.00

> per month or $12,000.00 per year. Joe Legal now has $19,231.00.

> Jose Illegal has full Medical and Dental coverage through the state and local

> clinics at a cost of mce_marker.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.

> Joe Legal makes too much money is not eligible for Food Stamps or welfare.

> Joe Legal pays for food $1,000.00 per month $12,000.00 per year.
> Joe Legal now has $ 7,231.00.

> Jose Illegal has no documented income and is eligible for Food Stamps and

> Welfare. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.

> Joe Legal pays rent of $1,000.00 per month or $12,000.00 per year.

> Joe Legal is now in the hole, minus (-) $4,769.00

> Jose Illegal receives a $500 per month Federal rent subsidy.
> Jose Illegal pays rent $500.00 per month $6,000.00 per year.
> Jose Illegal still has $25,200.00.

> Joe Legal now works overtime on Saturdays or gets a part time job after work.
> Jose Illegal has nights and weekends off to enjoy with his family.

> Joe Legal’s and Jose Illegal’s children both attend the same school.
> Joe Legal pays for his children’s lunches while Jose Illegal’s children

> get a government sponsored lunch.

> Jose Illegal’s children have an after school ESL program.

> Joe Legal’s children go home.

> Joe Legal and Jose Illegal both enjoy the same Police and Fire Services,

> but Joe paid for them and Jose did not pay.

> Don’t vote/support any politician that supports illegal aliens…
> Its PAST time to take a stand for America and Americans!

> (Who comes out on top? The employer AND the illegal alien.)

My mother sends all sorts of crap to me. A lot of it is the sappy, sparkle infused saccharine. The stuff my friend from California sends is worse, more like this with social/political judgmental overtones. I don’t have any good ideas for you about how to respond, though I am interested to know what you decide to do. Good luck.

Oops…forgot to say great post! Looking forward to your next one.

I fear you would be wasting your time.
there is no point in wasting your time and energy in defending or proving these things are wrong etc. People who send this stuff out believe in it, and are not going to change; people believe what they want to believe.

And do refrain from the wicked remark “well I can’t take your opinion seriously as you are a person living in sin and of poor character” (oooh!)”

My dad gets this crap from a friend of his.

Intelligent people end up with brain cramps reading this sort of “logical reasoning” spewed on the internet by the willfully ignorant and utterly racist part of the population. If you have the time and energy to address each of the points made in the email, I’d love to see it.

I am a fan of Urspo’s retort, BTW.

I’m interested to hear how you responded or did not. I would have chosen not to but that’s me. The person sending probably didn’t even read all of it. Most likely glimpsed through it, as did I, and related to a couple of funny zingers and forwarded it on. No harm meant.

Someone sent me something like this once, and I sent them back a nice long email, telling them it was ignorant and not to forward me anything like that again.
